Blake's 7 had a wealth of good guest characters, many of whom appear regularly in fanfic.
This is a list of minor characters that various fans would like to see paired with major characters, romantically or otherwise, and minor characters who ought to have been paired with each other. This list originated as a mailing list discussion, and contains also discussions of some of these possible pairings.
Canonically, we have Avon/Anna Grant, Vila/Kerrill, Tarrant/Zeeona, Servalan/Don Keller (though admittedly we didn't see her interact with him).
Alicia Ann Fox:
Avon/Levett from "Mission to Destiny." I think Cally/Pasco would've been nice. Del Grant from "Countdown" might have gotten on well with Levett, too.
Servalan/Carnell from "Weapon" is a pretty typical pick, but it would've had some sizzling dialogue.
Avon/Avalon. We get very little idea of her character from the episode, but there's a delicous irony in thinking of Avon and a rebel leader of any stripe having something in common.
Here are some of my other favorite minor characters, but I don't know who I'd pair them with.
Tel Varon, "The Way Back."
Tyce from "Bounty."
Bek from "Shadow."
Ro from "Horizon."
Kasabi from "Pressure Point."
Del Grant from "Countdown." Nice voice, nice cynical sense of humor.
The inimitable Kerrill, from "City at the Edge of the World."
That pilot in "Children of Auron" who was infected with the plague by Servalan.
Major Grenlee from "Rumours of Death." You'd have to get him off duty, though.
Dorian from "Rescue."
Gambit the computer in "Games."
Lisa L.:
Oh, please, somebody say PELLA! Pella/Avon, Pella/Tarrant...
And I still want to see a Soolin/Piri. Tee Hee.
Sabrah n'ha Raven:
Tyce paired with...anybody would be nice, though I can't think of a single one who'd be appropriate. Vila comes to mind, but promptly boggles it. Tyce and Gambit-Travis, without her knowing that he's a bad guy? Tyce/Carnell.
Actually, I wouldn't mind Sarkoff either. I like older men, what can I say? It was the hat, really it was. I die for hats. :-) Sarkoff and Servalan, so they can make lots of cute little hats.
Kasabi from "Pressure Point."
Interesting that we saw a daughter but no father. Where's he? Servalan as a cadet attempting to seduce Kasabi? A younger Kasabi and Jenna.
Dorian from "Rescue." Of course. With Avon, equally of course.
Gambit the computer in "Games."
Vila/Gambit! Avon/Gambit! Orac/Gambit! (I smell a computerized version of Sarek and Amanda...) Avon/Vila/Gambit/Orac/Slave! Seriously though, I always thought it was a shame they couldn't have rescued her too. Gambit would have made a good addition to the crew. :-)
Carnell and absolutely anybody at all, except Cally or Blake.
Hob, from "Rumours of Death," with Dayna.
To me, Hob seemed to have just the right sort of mix of realism with idealism, not too much of either and knowing how to weigh them against each other according to the appropriateness of the circumstances. I think he'd be a good foil for Dayna's headstrong, rush-in-feet-first tendencies. He's not my type at all, but I just can't get over his "No, but they do fight, and they do die" line to Sula. Would be nice to see what kind of rebel leader he'd make 10 years down the road--and not too hard to arrange, since logically he'd have sent someone else to look for Sula rather than coming himself anyway.
Advocate Thania, from Trial, with Avon.
Governor LeGrand, with Servalan.
Franton, with...Blake springs to mind, though I'm not sure how that could be arranged.
Deeta/Soolin.
Docholli/Chenie. Mind you, it's not a scene I'd necessarily want to read explicit, but I would have liked to see them together more.
Del Grant and Soolin?
Travis/Maryatt from "Orac."
TGF:
"Carnell and absolutely anybody at all, except Cally or Blake."
I must protest this one. Who wouldn't want to see Carnell and Cally? Wouldn't apsychic and a psychomanipulator be great partners? I think Carnell would befascinated by Auronar in general and Cally in particular. I'm of course referringto the "good Cally"--in the scenes and eps where her character wasn't sadlyunderrealized.
Alicia Ann Fox:
Tyce/Carnell! She would definitely be a match for him. Just imagine the sizzling dialogue! Carnell did need somewhere to hole up after he took off from Space Command. And in his spare time he could analyze Sarkoff, surely a rewarding project.
Sarkoff...oddly enough, Dr. Plaxton comes to mind. I could see him with an academic, most likely female and practical. Though I assume once he got back to Lindor that he lost some of his flightiness. How could he have been such an effective President if he'd spent all his time obsessed with his collections?
I've often suspected Sarkoff in "Bounty" wasn't nearly so ditzy as he appeared. He was protecting himself from the Feds--they would've killed him and Tyce in a moment if he'd seemed to be any kind of danger to them at all. His protective coloring served him so well, however, that Tyce couldn't see through it. He didn't drop it for Blake because what did Sarkoff know from Blake? He was ultra-careful.
A really funny use for Sarkoff could be to have him seduce Jenna about an hour after the hijacking attempt ends. Then Cally shortly after. Charming older gentleman with lifetime's technique seeks lovely young thing...would give different meaning to Jenna's catty looks at the end of the episode.
Gambit the computer in "Games."
They did save a piece of Gambit, didn't they? Besides, she could be resurrected. People resurrect Cally all the time. Maybe Orac downloaded a lot of Gambit because she was so fascinating, or something, and Avon uploded her into a new "body." A humanoid body???
Advocate Thania, from Trial, with Avon.
Good one, though it would be a bit bitter and brittle...not the sort of thing I'd enjoy writing. Maybe they knew each other pre-series, that seems likely.
Governor LeGrand, with Servalan.
Yow! That would give "Voice from the Past" a stinger.
Franton, with...Blake springs to mind, though I'm not sure how that could be arranged.
Blake could have taken refuge on Kaarn at some point. Acually, either Franton or Patar would be easy to do with any of 3rd series crew, since they travelled to Kaarn on Liberator. Cally probably, though anyone would be fun. Vila, for example. One could use the "in desperate need of comfort after the death of their people" as an excuse. Patar in particular seemed to be in major denial for the whole episode, or at least he hid his feelings beneath a clever veneer....
Deeta/Soolin.
There's a good one. Again, we have the dead problem, but that's easily fixed. Resurrect him, or, more simply, say Soolin met him in her wanderings. She'd get a nasty flash when she saw Del Tarrant in "Rescue" unless she was prepared (never mind--I think she and Dorian knew who they all were).
Docholli/Chenie....
They were so cute! It could be done--really hot sex between the two of them, I mean. Their genuine affection would be a plus, and a rarity in B7 fic! Assuming Docholli puts on a condom more easily than he puts on his coat....
Cami:
Tarrant-Tyce: Annie and Leah have whetted my appetite for how these two relate. They have a lovely (but not without conflict) relationship in the "Last Stand" universe. (more, please)
Tarrant/Sarcophagus Alien: I want to see more of them in Lorna's "Insect" universe.
Tarrant-Arlen: this one I think I'd definitely prefer gen (but I'm willing to be convinced otherwise).
Tarrant/Bershar (the son in Volcano): I know they were up to something when they were alone together.
Tarrant/Avalon and Tarrant/Veron: it's about time these ladies got to meet Lean and Lovely.
Tel Varon, "The Way Back."
I like him too. We could have him survive the crash. (Notice how I resist adding "pair him with Tarrant.")
I adore Del Grant and would enjoy seeing him paired with anyone.
Gambit the computer in "Games."
I've always fancied a Gambit/Slave union. Vila brought a piece of Gambit back with him. You merge that with Slave and true love is born. Slave needs someone to look after his best interests.
Alicia Ann Fox:
Tarrant-Tyce:
I think I would like them PGP. Lindor has always been one of my top 2 choices for where they could go for a bolthole (Kaarn being the other), and I don't think she would've had much patience with young brash Tarrant. But wounded, suffering from love affair that ended in sudden death, heroic Tarrant? Tyce might have a well-hidden taste for romanticism after all those years watching her father swirl around in satin capes.
Tarrant-Arlen:
Both Federation trained...could be horrible irony if he knew her from before GP.
Tarrant/Avalon and Tarrant/Veron:
Avalon would be a brief foxhole romance, I think. Veron would be great if they met her PGP, when she's older and tougher than she was in "Pressure Point."
Del Grant from "Countdown." I adore Del and would enjoy seeing him paired with anyone.
He's a mercenary. Maybe we can match him up with another mercenary. Maybe...Del Tarrant? "I've been on the Federation wanted list for quite a while. I had my own ship. I was running contraband, getting myself mixed up in other people's wars...."
Gambit the computer in "Games."
Why not Gambit/Tarrant? That sexy voice purring, "Would you like to play a game, Tarrant?"
Sarah Trombley:
Ushton Blake from "Hostage"
Sarkoff/Ushton! Just kidding, but Ushton always tickles me to death--I'd love to see him with someone.
Alicia Ann Fox:
Ushton/Docholli? No, someone with long hair--one of those guys from "The Keeper," or a Hommik. He could kick a Hommik off a cliff and be instantly respected.
Misha:
Avon/Avalon from "Project Avalon"...
I like this combo and used it in a story which didn't work out right, but some
day I'm going to try it again from scratch.
Tyce from "Bounty."
I've always liked Tyce, and she has a major role in my story for Forbidden Star, "If Dreams Could Sell, What Would You Buy?" She only has one sex scene, however, and it isn't real. Nor is it with the person she's in love with. She does get to watch him, though.
Del Grant from "Countdown." Nice voice, nice cynical sense of humor.
I always liked Del. I have an A/T story in which both Anna and Del Grant were Avon's lovers.
Bek might be good with Dayna. She could lose some of her naivety with him.
Robert Goodwin: Zeeona with a Space Rat--unsuitable boyfriend BEFORE unsuitable boyfriend Tarrant. Ellie Richards: I've always had a soft spot for Max. Marvellous angst potential, especially if you pair him with Deeta. In a similar vein I think Par & Travis and Gan & Kara have the same gentle understanding between them that could develop into sex in the right circumstances. Who's the dishy leader of the Helotrix resistance? Is it Avandir ? He might be a good match for Dayna or Servalan provided he could dodge those daggers. I like Doran as well, but I've no idea why, he's a pretty revolting character really. I would love to pair him with Servalan but fear the results might be a little too sickky, ickky.... Par/Travis: Who's the dishy leader of the Helotrix resistance ?... Cami: Lisa voted for: I have a slight hankering to see Avalon and Gan get it together, both because of their mismatched sizes and because Gan never seems to get any. Major Thania from "Trial" with Tarrant. A nice clash of attitudes and personalities IMO. Lorna Payne: Dr. Bellfriar, maybe with Kasabi or Dr. Plaxton. Dr. Bellfriar's assistant, with Cally maybe. Also. maybe a couple of years in the future, Veron Kasabi falling in love with a large, quiet man because subconsciously he reminds her of Gan. Carnell/Travis. Sarkoff/Cally (I've often thought that he gave her the music she was listening to in "Deliverance"). I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the totally yummy Paul Shelley (Major Provine in "Countdown") and...just about anyone. He and Blake have that lovely moment in the launching bay when he's dying and tells Blake to go to hell.... Lessee. Major Provine and young Tarrant? Travis? Del Grant? Or how about Servalan? Harriet Monkhouse: Have spent a couple of days trying to think of someone worthy enough to bestow on him. Max is very sweet--I wonder if he would do--at least there'd be no problem about either of them being shown up by the other's quickfire intelligence. But he's not quite right. Unless inspiration strikes, I'll have to give up and award Jarriere to Mary Sue. LJN:I always liked Pella. How about Pella/Vila? He might convince her that men aren't all as bad as she thinks they are. Avon or Tarrant would most likely convince her that she was right all along. ( I love them really!) Soolin/Piri, especially with Piri in cancer mode. They'd make quite a team, not two ladies to get on the wrong side of. And how about Servalan/Cancer? They seemed to have quite a mutual admiration society going at one point. I've sometimes thought that Inga/Avon would be an interesting idea to play around with. Not because I think that it's a likely relationship, but because I can't help wondering how Blake would react. Would he be the protective male relative trying to make sure that Avon did the decent thing by Inga? Or would he be the jealous jilted lover? And if so who's jealous lover, Inga's or Avon's?
Character Relationships
Zeeona/Tyce - unfeasible hair meets unfeasible lips
Is it too 'sick-puppy' to suggest Egrorian/Pinder so early in the day ?
Alicia Ann Fox:
In grand fanfic tradition, Egrorian/Old Starkiller (same actor) ought to get done.
Starts as duty, ends as something more! Par sees through Travis's mask, but only for a brief tender moment!
Oh, yes! Forgot him completely! You mean Hunda? Hunk-a! Avandir is the second in command, I think. They were both cute. Noble rebels, sigh.
Hob, from "RoD," with Dayna.
Good one! Hob appeared to be such a serious, intense young man, too busy with the revolution to pursue personal pleasure. It would take someone aggressive to get him in bed and Dayna is just the woman for that. She wasn't shy or retiring in "Aftermath" or "Ultraworld."
<
IMO, Pella's hatred of men would lend itself to S/M. Which could be interesting.
Well, I've always thought that the administrator of K27 in "Breakdown" had made a pass at Avon.
I hope it's just because I've been away for a week and I've missed the relevant posts that I haven't seen any reference to the adorable Jarriere?
