"Avon's gadget works!" --Vila, "Trial."
Sources: Transcripts of episodes. The Programme Guide by Tony Attwood, Target Books, 1983 (no direct quotes).
- A-Line Pulse Code
- top Federation security code.
- androids
- mechanical versions of humans are seen in "Project Avalon," "Deathwatch," and "Headhunter."
- anti-matter mine field
- arrangement of exploding devices set up in space just beyond Star One, to alert the Federation to invasion from the Andromeda galaxy. ("Star One")
- aquatar
- metal used in Federation mater transmission experiments ("Cygnus Alpha"). A substance similar to aquatar is used in Liberator teleport bracelets.
- blister force wall
- surrounds only one part of a ship.
- controlled beaming
- artificial telepathic transmission ("Voice from the Past"), associated with crimino therapy.
- crimino therapy
- brainwashing, utilizing hypnotic trigger signals. Drugs were also used for this purpose, but their names and exact uses were not specified. Orac describes standard hypnotic procedure as "audio pulse signals with visual support" in "Voice from the Past." The disorienter was also used as a torture device ("Horizon"). Gow was the Federation base for "mind therapists."
- cryogenic capsule
- like it sounds. Intended to preserve a dead or near-dead person until proper medical care could be obtained. "Headhunter"
- dynamon crystals
- crystals that could be used to focus psychic powers, such as telekinesis and teleportation. ("Power")
- eclipse pattern
- Federation tactic, using three ships with one of them hidden at all times ("Harvest of Kairos")
- energy mass transmuter
- replicates objects exactly, but is not so successful with living objects. ("Moloch")
- Feldon crystals
- super power source described in "Games."
- Gambit
- Belkov's computer in "Games." Possessed of a contralto female voice, "she" was a rebuilt Alpha Class 197 including circuits from a PPC Class computer.
- limiter
- Gan's limiter was the only one shown. A small device visible at the crown of the head and linked into the brain to cause intense pain whenever the victim becomes angry enough to kill.
- germainian circuitry
- used in the construction of Ultraworld. Presumably used in human-made computers as well, since Avon recognized it.
- gravity generator
- developed by the Tharrn to move planets and stars. Shielded with Herculanium, the same material of which Liberator's hull was constructed. ("Dawn of the Gods.")
- heliofusion rod
- bit of tech that Avon used to defeat Gun-Sar in "Rescue."
- high intensity radiation grid
- surrounded Central Control on Earth. Its function was to fry anyone who attempted to cross it; if the grid was cut, it self-repaired in eight seconds. ("Pressure Point.")
- ice crystals
- used in heavy duty lasers. Mined on Avalon's base planet in "Project Avalon."
- image amplifier
- a prosthesis for the visually impaired. ("Aftermath.")
- IMIPAK
- Induced Molecular Instability Projector and Key ("So that's IMIPAK.") IMIPAK had two parts, the weapon itself and the key. "The weapon destabilised the individual; the key then completed the destabilisation and killed. The weapon only fired through a line of sight, but the key could be activated at any time thereafter and over exceptionally long distances." ("Weapon")
- impact life capsule
- designed to allow ship's crew to eject from a damaged spacecraft. Bullet shaped, silver, with minimal life support systems. Mentioned in "Mission to Destiny," "Powerplay." Seen in "Deliverance," "Orac" (in flashback), "Aftermath."
- ionic beam
- could disable a ship with minimum damage, and conveniently knock out Auron telepathy as well. ("Children of Auron.")
- killer
- a type of miniature bomb that attaches itself to living matter and explodes about 10 seconds later. ("Gold")
- laser cannon
- extremely powerful weapon, used by Bayban in "City at the Edge of the World."
- laser knives, insulated saw
- used to cut through cables carrying high energy charges. ("Time Squad")
- laser probe
- tool often used by Avon, though not named. Shrinker threatened to put out Avon's eye using this tool in "Rumours of Death."
- lazeron destroyer
- Travis's "hand" gun. A large yellowish crystal on his artificial left hand.
- magnetic barrier
- a type of defense mechanism set up around Horizon.
- molecular shift detector
- constructed by Federation officer Escon to detect the kinetic shifts that result from teleportation in "Seek-Locate-Destroy."
- neuronic whip
- a type of weapon that produces unbearable light and sound, and reduces resistance to a degree that forces the victim to answer questions truthfully. ("Dawn of the Gods")
- nuclear compression charge
- explosive device which created a miniature black hole.
- petroscope
- used by Avon to hunt for dynamon crystals in "Power."
