Death of Boredom II-
Dog Attack
By Lil Phoenix

This edition of the "Death of Boredom" series fits into the normal storyline after "Thicker Than Water: Part 5". Now, I wrote this before I knew what they had in mind for the next chapters, so although it makes sense in the storyline up 'til "TTW: Part 5", it may not make sense in the chapters after. Just a warning.

Ebiru Shizaku and Darker Shadow sat in Ebiru’s room, complaining about, well, everything.  Athene was in the castle library doing some research, and Phineas was off trying to find the Sailor Ronins.
“She’s so bossy.  And strict.  And just plain stupid.  I mean, if she has so much power, then why doesn’t she take care of the Sailor Ronins herself?” Ebiru griped about their boss, Sorceress Kasei.
“Yeah,” Shadow’s usual response to anything his sister ever said.
“Then there’s those little twirps, the Sailor Ronins.  Heroes: I don’t know about them.  They’re just always right there when you’re doing something evil.  How do they do that?  Sheesh, give us a break, ya know?  We have a job, too.  And if they fail, they just get their asses kicked, or they get killed.  But if we fail, we have to face her,” Ebiru jerked her thumb in the general direction of Kasei’s current location.  “Our lives suck.”
“Hm,” Shadow grunted.  “You talk to much.”
Ebiru glared at him.  When she started to get up to leave, a black and white head peeked around the corner.
“Hey Myst,” Shadow walked over to the doorway and picked up his fluffy Shetland Sheepdog.  He moved over to Ebiru’s bed and plopped down the mass of black and white fur.
“Hey, get that thing off my bed,” Ebiru said light-heartedly as she walked over to scratch Myst’s ear.  “Hey Fat-Dog,” she cooed.
“You let your scruffy little pup up here, why can’t Myst come up?” Shadow commented as he petted his dog.
“Because Myst’s too fat to get down by herself,” Ebiru joked.  “And Electra’s not scruffy- she just has a lot less fur than this hairball.”
At the sound of her name, Electra poked her head into the room.  “Hey ‘Lectracutie.  Come here,” Ebiru patted the bed.  The little brown Sheltie bounded over and up onto the bed.
Myst groaned and squirmed from Shadow’s grasp to jump off of the bed, turning around to glare up at the puppy who now stood proudly in her spot.  “Now look what you did, you disturbed Myst,” Shadow chuckled as he scratched Electra behind the ears.
“Aw, come here, Fat-Dog.”  Knowing she wouldn’t come, Ebiru walked over to Myst and began scratching her sides rather roughly.  Myst playfully growled, and Electra hopped off the bed.  The little brown puppy yapped at Myst, then bounded out the door.  Ebiru released Myst, who then chased after Electra, barking all the way.  “I love doing that,” Ebiru giggled.  Shadow simply shook his head, smirking.
Ebiru flopped down into her chair, thinking.  Suddenly she grinned.  “Wouldn’t it be funny to attack the Sailor Ronins with those two?”
Shadow’s smirk returned.  “It would definitely be interesting.”
“And there’s no way they’d kill two little puppies.  Why don’t we try it?  Just out of boredom, or something?”
“Sure, why not?  It’d be better than sittin’ here.”

After Phineas returned with the tale of a battle he didn’t even want to start, they found out the Sailor Ronins location.
“Hey, where’re you going?” Phineas asked as they started to leave.
“Just... taking the dogs for a walk,” Ebiru supplied.
“Okay,” Phineas shrugged and walked away.

Darker Shadow transported his sister and their dogs to the edge of the section of the park that the Sailor Ronins were staying in.
“Now, how are we going to get ‘em here?” Shadow wondered.
“Leave a note?”  Ebiru pulled a small piece of paper and a pen from a hidden pocket in her cloak.  Shadow shook his head in disbelief.  “Finished.”  Ebiru read the note aloud, “‘Meet us in the clearing to the west, signed, Ebiru and Shadow.’”  Ebiru nodded in satisfaction and cautiously attached the note to one of the cabin doors.
“How do you know there’s a clearing to the west?”
Ebiru shrugged.  “If there isn’t, there will be.”
Shadow grinned and followed his sister west, two dogs in tow.

They, much to Shadow’s disappointment, found a small clearing not too far into the woods.  Myst and Electra had made themselves comfortable in the shade at the edge of the clearing, while Shadow watched for any sign of the Sailor Ronins as he leaned against a tree, with Ebiru sitting in its branches.
Shadow sighed for the hundredth time since they had begun waiting.
“Maybe they’re all illiterate?” Ebiru sighed with him.
Just then, they heard a snap, followed by a loud “Shhh!!”  Ebiru and Shadow rolled their eyes, and patiently waited until all five Sailor Ronins and a couple Ronin Warriors and Warlords stumbled out of the woods on the opposite side of the clearing.
“Took you long enough,” Shadow grumbled, before yelling, “Ok, get ‘em, Myst!”  His black and white ball of fur, positioned comfortably in the shade of a tree, gave him a look that was clearly read as: “Yeah, right.”
Ebiru snickered and turned to her puppy, who was looking at her and nearly jumping with excitement.  “Attack, Electra!”  Electra raced across the clearing to the Sailor Ronins.
Seeing the success of his sister, Shadow tried her command.  “Attack, Myst!” he yelled, only to receive the same look from his dog.  Shadow was becoming exasperated.  “I choose you, Myst!”
Noticing her brother having trouble, Ebiru walked over to try and help.  “Vas-y!” she told Myst in French and pointed to their enemy.  She only recieved a stare in return.  Myst laid her head back on the ground and continued her nap.  Ebiru shugged.  “I guess she’s a dud or something.”
Ebiru turned back to watch her puppy.  Unfortunately, Ebiru hadn’t noticed that as Electra had ran across the clearing, she had picked up a stick and was now trying to convince the Sailor Ronins to play with her.  Sailor Wildfire was kneeling down, trying to get the stick and throw it for the happy little puppy.
Sekhmet gave it a strange look, then leaned over and whispered to Sailor Wildfire, “Should I poison it?”
Sailor Wildfire looked at him, disgusted.  “Of course not!  Poor thing!”  She succeeded in getting the stick, and threw it, giggling as the puppy ran off to fetch it.  Sailor Halo tapped her on the shoulder.  “Huh?”  She looked up.  Sailor Halo was pointing across the clearing, at Ebiru and Shadow.
Shadow was glaring at them, looking exremely displeased, while his sister was laughing so hard that she had to lean on a tree to stay standing.  Ebiru took a few breaths, called to her puppy, and burst out laughing again.  Shadow picked up his dog while Electra ran into Ebiru’s open arms.  Shadow teleported them all away as Ebiru cooed into her puppy’s ear, still giggling.
After a few moments of silence, Rowen spoke what was on everyone’s mind, “What was that all about?”
“I have no idea,” Sailor Halo stared at the empty clearing in disbelief.
They all turned to leave, still trying to figure out what had happened, while Sailor Wildfire tried to stifle her laughter.

“How humiliating,” Darker Shadow groused, back in Ebiru’s room.
Ebiru held Electra in her lap, still trying to stop giggling and constantly being glared at by her brother.
