We left about midmorning. My pet and I had slept in the RV in the past, but this was my first time in the RV while it was moving. I admit I was a bit nervous, but I soon settled down and I think I actually started to enjoy it. In any case, I can't say I enjoyed the mountain pass, too many curves and too much shaking for me. I don't think my pet liked it too much either, though she was reading at the time and wasn't paying too much attention to the outside world. We stopped about noon to get some water for me (like I said, being pampered is fun) and some cherries from a stand outside town. When we finally stopped for the night, my pet and her parents took me for a walk.
There were some very interesting Basenjis a couple of spaces down, but they weren't too interested in talking. I wonder why. (Editor's note: Basenjis cannot bark, but they can whine and make other vocal noises.) My pet took a nap, and her parents took me down to the river. The water was cold, but I had fun watching a chocolate lab playing with her pet in the water. Later, when it was almost bedtime, I had my picture taken with my pet in front of this pretty fountain they had. Wish I could take the fountain home. It certainly would be pretty.
When we got back to the RV though I was so tired that I curled up on the couch bed my pet and I share and went right to sleep. I wonder what we're going to do tomorrow. I kind of want to go home - I almost miss the cat and my own bed at home - but... meeting new dogs and their pets and seeing new places is fun!
I got so tired after walking up and down the streets of Leavenworth, so when my pet's parents went up into the bookstore, I laid down in the shade of a tree to rest. The bricks were cool, and my pet took off her sandals and gave me a tummyrub. I might have drifted off to sleep briefly; I don't recall. I was, however, awake enough to walk back to the RV with her. I couldn't sleep until her parents had both arrived, though. Then I slept all the way to Winthrop. There was some nice scenery along the way, I hear, but I was more interested in sleeping than in scenery.
When we got to the campground, my pet's mother took me down to the river. She tried to get me to play in the water, but just wound up losing a ball and ending up with a wet dog. No, that wasn't much fun. Then I went for a little trip around the campground with my pet on a strange bike I've never seen before. But since it was a bit warm then, traveling under and through sprinklers to cool off was definitely fun.
I met a little german girl and her family on vacation and they said I was so pretty. Obviously they have finer tastes in life, to accurately recognize my handsome presence. There was also a pretty tri-colored rough-coat collie named Debbie running loose for awhile, but before she got close enough for me to talk to, her pet called her back. What a shame, I was starting to like her...
